• Both photos must be identical
• They must be in colour, not black and white
• Taken and printed in the last 30 days
• Is against a plain light grey background or plain cream background.
• Undamaged and not torn or bent.
• Printed on photo quality paper.
• Ensure eyes are fully open and fully visible - no glasses.
• There is no reflection, glare or red eye.
• You are facing directly into the cameraNo side poses.
• Neutral facial expression
• Ensure your face is not covered

If you are required to provide additional information in terms of certificates, then please ensure that you also provide a copy as well as the original. Certificates that the British passport office may require, include the following:

• Marriage certificate
• Naturalisation certificates
• Birth certificates
• Education certificates

If you are providing a birth certificate for a minor (under 16), then please ensure that the full council version is provided (the one that states the occupations of both parents).
